Canada’s first and only Macedonian distillery is finally here! Petrovski Family Spirits Co. is a family-owned and operated small batch distillery established in 2020. We specialize in the production of high quality fruit brandies made in the style of Macedonia. There, these beloved spirits are known as rakija.
Our products are available through LCBO licensees as of May 2024
Driven by the desire to preserve the name rakija and to showcase the traditions and cultural heritage in which it is woven, we decided to start production of alcoholic distillates in the style of Macedonia on the North American continent. In an ever-changing world, we believe that the surest way to preserve national traditions is through their affirmation and promotion on the global stage. As cognac will forever be synonymous with French culture, Scotch with Scottish, and bourbon with American culture, we aim that one day the world identifies Lozova Rakija with Macedonian culture.

Petrovski Family Spirits Co. is the first distillery in Canada to produce Macedonian rakija! Macedonian rakijas are crisp, smooth and pleasant, clear or aged spirits made from a single ingredient. These spirits, when properly crafted do not contain any added refined sugars or other kinds of artificial flavours or additives. They have a balance of aroma and flavour strongly reminiscent of the fruit from which they are made, yet have a distinct presence of a spirit, as opposed to the sweet, sour, or bitter flavour of a liqueur. They warm your soul; not burn your insides. They make you want to sing and dance; not shout and fight. They caress your senses; not assault them.

Born and raised on the rolling, sunny hills of Macedonia and transplanted to the open vastness of Canada’s Great Lakes, the Petrovski Family intends to keep alive centuries-old traditions of artful enjoyment in an ever-changing world.
Our mission is the production of authentic Macedonian rakija made from the highest quality grapes, grown in their ideal climate—Macedonia—as well as a variety of fruit brandies made of the highest quality fruit, using state-of-the-art equipment, based on centuries-old tradition and mastery that is passed down from generation to generation.
The branding of our company, using our family name, is our guarantee of ongoing quality, consistency, and service. The branding of our products as Makedonska Rakijа evokes the timeless land of Macedonia. Her storied history, her culture of diverse, yet inevitably contagious song and dance, and her equally diverse and memorable delicious cuisine, fine wines and spirits.
After all, credit must be given where it is due, and while the Petrovski Family produces this delicious rakija, we rely heavily on the collective knowledge and wisdom that is passed on from generation to generation and the natural wonders that are bestowed upon Macedonia.

We are currently able to sell our products only to LCBO Licensees and holders of Special Occassion’s Permits. All holders of such licences are welcome to contact us. Likewise, if you’d like to see our products the local bar or restaurant you frequent, please tell management about us.
